& heaps more of those words...

Whenever there's a family function my pre-teen cousins always plan a little concert to perform for the fam. Sure it sounds like a hoot but it' usually falls between food and coffee which means everyone is bloated and irritable and just about ready for a little power nap. The concerts usually consist of a couple of Hannah Montana songs and the collingwood football club theme song... it's just as well all sharp objects have usually been removed from the table by this stage.

Anyway good friday was no different. We were all together for the annual easter eat-a-thon and the girls were ready to put on a show. Only this year to make matters worse they pulled out a CD player and microphone. They pushed us "adults" to far and we may have kinda a little bit booed them off stage. Shut down by there parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents the girls were clearly hurting. Later in the evening we received this note sent by four yr carrier pigeon jason. I have never been made to feel so guilty by a couple of children. I will treasure this note forever and ever.

(how did they know I'd be laughing by that stage??? psychic children)

I heard the first single from the new Silversun Pickups album "Swoon" today.
It's called Panic switch and it's genius.

Make us cry.
You beautiful people.

It doesn't take a genius to see the world has problems

Last night I saw "Watchmen"
It was pretty rad.
unnecessarily violent with big explosions and all that jazz.
And I kinda fell in love with the big blue glowing guy.
It was like 15 minutes too long and there was also the inevitable awkwardness during sex scenes (side note: I went with my mother and father... and there friends... and their children...) but other than that it was an overall enjoyable cinematic experience.

two very enthusiastic thumbs up.

mittens and trench coats and gloves. oh my!

I'm all curled up under my doona and I can most definitely smell winter. As I peruse some of the Sartorialist's latest shots I have become very excited about coats and boots and scarves and mittens and hats and such. All these glorious things are definitely worth the pasty, white skin, the inevitable flus/colds and the inability to go outside for a cigarette in between bands or drinks. Bring. It. On.

why so serious?

Last night I watched the Oscars purely to see if Heath won and clearly I was not disappointed. I'm not ashamed to say I cried like a baby when his family accepted the award on his behalf. I thought they did an amazing job seeing as I and the majority of movie stars there were unable to keep it together.

Now I'm looking forward to Heath's final performance in "the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". He wasn't able to finish filming but Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all stepped in to finish it for him. I also believe they've given their earnings from the film to little Matilda. Adorable.

it's not so bad!

I got a tattoo.
The gun was loud.
The room was tense.
The lines were slightly crooked.
But it was free so it's not all bad.

The Falls

I was at The Falls Festival over new years. It was rainy. And windy. And Freezing. And fairly fabulous. Here are some of my happy snaps.

We took a short cut down danger lane to avoid the heinous traffic along the coast. It probably would have saved time if we didn't stop every 10 minutes so the other people in our convoy could drink beer and kick a football... I just wanted to get there in time to see fleet foxes.

The road was bumpy.

It was nice to finally see this sign after 5 hours of driving and stopping. And driving. And stopping.

But we were in line for another 2+ hours. Someone fell into a ditch whilst chasing a football. So it had it's moments.

We made it in time for Fleet Foxes. We watched them from the hill. It was splendid.

We had a sweet set up. But the ferocious wind killed it on the first night. There were many attempts to fix it... but we ended up just tying a tarp in between the cars and chillin under there.

The op shop in town had a colour themed front window. I enjoyed it very much.

I'm so glad Kate had an extra poncho. I would have died without it. Also super effective at sheltering you from the wind.

Rob's was more for show. Not quite as functional.

Tame Impala. Adorable.

Alex reflects.

Gumboots were fairly essential... Rob was not aware.

The Kooks were fun. But nothing compared to what was to come...

The Hives. So clearly the stand out performance of the festival without question. My thighs began to ache from jumping, my rain poncho wasn't quite holding up against the wind and rain and some irritating girl wouldn't stop bitching about how arrogant the lead singer was... BUT still it was AMAZING.

Lost stuff. Free stuff.

Cut Off Your Hands. I love them. But I was distracted by the video camera which kept getting lowered right in my face. blergh.

This man slept through everything. Don't blame him. Looks comfy.

Architecture in Helsinki.

Some blow up doll fun.

Many showed up for a dance at Architecture

One of the Falls Fiesta Floats. Clearly the coolest. From what I could gather they were made by willing festival goers on site over the first couple days with some supplied materials and whatever else was lying around.

This is some of us on New Years before heading over to see Franz and such. It was cold cold cold.

This flag came in super handy on NYE whilst trying to find your buds amongst thousands of drunks just like them. Plus it was fun to twirl and wave.

Everyone was sleepy. Home times.
